Cooling is where older boards often show their limits. A split system draws a lot, and many homes here were never wired to feed one beside the oven and dryer. So we start at the switchboard, not the wall. If the board has capacity, we run a dedicated circuit, fit an isolator by the outdoor unit and wire up the system. The mounting and refrigerant side belongs to the air conditioning installer, and we coordinate with theirs. Interwar homes often have high ceilings and decent roof space, which suits ceiling fan installation as a lower-load alternative, or a partner to the split system. For the 1960s units, we check the body corporate's rules on outdoor units and cable routes. We keep exposed cabling neat and weatherproof.
