LED downlights in Ormond are a good fit for the high ceilings and wide hallways of an interwar bungalow, but we plan pendant lights and dimmers too. We pick fittings to suit the house.

Californian bungalows and interwar brick homes in Ormond often have features worth keeping, such as decorative cornices or timber lining. That calls for restraint. We might leave the central rose in the dining room, add wall lights beside the mirror and fit a few downlights in the kitchen extension. In the extension, where the ceiling is flat and new, we have more freedom to lay out a grid of LED downlights, with a dimmer on the lounge circuit. Hallways need even light, not hot spots. If the roof space contains old cable from an earlier era, we flag it before any holes are cut. Where the home has been extended, we often find mixed circuits and tidy them as we go, so the lighting feels like part of one plan.
