A new wall oven is a showpiece in a Hawthorn renovation, but the wiring behind the cabinetry decides whether it works well. In a period house the existing oven circuit might date from the last rewire, decades ago, and the cable may be undersized for a modern oven. We check the circuit, the protection at the board and where the connection point should sit relative to the joinery. In Hawthorn's older flats, a freestanding oven replaced like for like is a simple job if the isolating switch and circuit are in good shape. If they are not, we fix them first. Installing is our job, repairing is not, so a faulty oven goes back to its maker or a service agent. If you are renovating, call us before the cabinetmaker so the oven recess, cable path and switch position are all planned together.
