McKinnon has plenty of interwar bungalows and Edwardian houses that have been loved and maintained but never rewired. In roof spaces we still find rubber or cloth-insulated cable, which cracks and crumbles as it ages. It might look fine from the switchboard. The safest time to replace it is during a renovation, when walls and ceilings are already open and the extra cost of access drops away. We pull out the old wiring, install new circuits with safety switch protection and keep cornices and picture rails in one piece where we can. Before quoting, you hear from us about what is in the roof, so there are no surprises. Where a full rewire is not needed, we say so and explain which circuits are worth doing first.
