Many Surrey Hills families open up the back of an Edwardian or interwar house and build a new kitchen where the old one stood. Gas often does not follow. Induction needs a dedicated circuit, which means a decent cable run from the board and enough capacity once it gets there. In a weatherboard, we usually bring that cable through the subfloor or roof space rather than the wall frame, which keeps your new lining untouched. If the original board is crowded, we raise that first, because a cooktop pulls a lot of power when all zones are on. The gas line needs to be disconnected and capped by a licensed gasfitter, and we coordinate with yours. Then we connect the cooktop, test each zone and show you the breaker. Check your cookware too, since induction only works with magnetic pans, and a fridge magnet will tell you quickly.
