The original lighting in Ashwood homes is generally one fitting per room, controlled by a wall switch that has not changed in decades. We plan lighting around how each room is used: bright and even where people cook or work, softer where they relax. In a converted garage office, glare on a screen matters, so we choose the position and spread of the lights with that in mind. Along the garden side of the property, where Gardiners Creek Trail brings walkers past on summer evenings, path lights and a sensor light near the back door add safety and a bit of atmosphere. Dimmers are one of the simplest changess you can make. We also check the ceiling cable and roof space before we drill, in case the existing wiring needs attention.
