Ashwood is a small suburb of post-war homes between Warrigal Road and Huntingdale Road. Many of those houses are now being updated or replaced, and the electrical work follows.

Ashwood's housing is mainly post-war brick veneer and weatherboard, much of it built in the 1950s and 1960s, with a growing number of townhouses on subdivided blocks. Original homes usually have small switchboards, limited power and no cooling. As families settle in, they often add split systems, update kitchens and convert garages or rooms into home offices, and that quickly shows up the limits of the old board. New townhouses are better equipped but still benefit from extra power points and circuits for cooling.
