Dim, dated fittings are typical of older Carnegie flats. We carry out LED downlights and lighting installation to brighten small rooms and make the apartment feel finished.

Many of the older apartments near Koornang Road have a single batten or oyster light in the middle of each room, and the result is flat and shadowy. Newer apartment buildings are the opposite. They have downlights, but often too few or in awkward places, and the white glare does not suit evenings. We swap them for warmer LEDs or add a dimmer so the same room can work for dinner and for a movie. In older flats, the ceiling may be concrete, so recessed downlights are not an option. A good pendant or surface-mounted LED panel does the job without drilling into slab. We check what is above each ceiling before we promise anything. When shared walls or ceilings are involved, we confirm with the owners corporation and tell the neighbours when noise is expected.

Yes. Recessed downlights may not suit concrete, but surface-mounted LED panels, pendants and wall lights work well. We can often reuse the existing wiring point and add a dimmer. We check the ceiling type before we promise anything, so you know what is possible.
