A Fitzroy terrace usually has a mix of tall, ornate front rooms and plainer rear additions. They need different treatment. In the front rooms, we'd often keep the ceiling rose and add wall lights, picture lights or a pendant on a dimmer, so the plaster detail stays intact. Further back, where a kitchen or bathroom was added later, LED downlights work well and give crisp task light over benches and basins. Before any cutting we check the ceiling void for clearance, insulation and anything in the way. Lighting also changes how a heritage room reads at night, so colour temperature matters: warm for living spaces, cooler for the kitchen. Because heritage overlays are widespread, we keep new lights inside and aim for nothing visible from the street. We'll mark positions with you before any work begins.
