Cooling a solid-masonry terrace is mostly a wiring question. We do split system installation in Fitzroy on the electrical side, meaning a circuit, an isolator and neat connections, plus ceiling fans for high rooms.
Fitzroy 3065
High ceilings and thick masonry walls keep Fitzroy terraces cool in spring and stubbornly warm after a run of hot days. A split system in the main living room helps, and so can a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Both need electrical planning. A split system needs its own circuit, and the board has to have room for it, which older boards often don't. Running the cable between the indoor and outdoor units through masonry means choosing a route that doesn't mark the front of a heritage terrace, so outdoor units usually go to the rear or the side. We fit an isolator next to the outdoor unit and test everything on completion. The refrigerant pipework is handled by a licensed air-conditioning installer. For ceiling fan installation, we locate a solid fixing, because tall ornate ceilings can hide a surprising amount of plaster and little timber.
What the job involves, warning signs and what's included are on our main a/c & ceiling fans page. For everything else we do locally, see electrician Fitzroy.
Good work. Happy locals.

FAQ
Can't see your question? Call Steve on 0450 347 495.
Usually, yes. We find the timber joist above and fix to that, so the plaster doesn't carry the weight. A long downrod brings the fan down to a useful height. We'll check the ceiling and recommend a position that suits the room.
