Street parking along the side streets off Brunswick Street and the narrow lanes behind terraces doesn't suit a home charger. Some residents do have a rear garage or carport, and a few newer apartment buildings offer car parks, so there are options if you look carefully. With a garage, we measure from the switchboard to the wall where the charger will sit and check that the supply can carry it. Many Fitzroy boards are old and full, so a board upgrade often comes first. In an apartment complex, the body corporate normally has to agree, and the supply may need its own meter or sub-circuit. Wall chargers go on their own protected circuit, and charging off-peak overnight is an easy setting afterward. If you don't have a place to park off-street, we'll say so honestly rather than sell you a charger you can't use.
