A modern kitchen in an old Fitzroy terrace usually pulls more power than its wiring was built for. Induction cooktop installation here starts with checking the circuit, then adding what's missing.
Fitzroy 3065
Gas has served these terraces for generations, but many owners are now removing it. An induction cooktop has no flame, cleans in a wipe and heats fast, but it needs substantial electrical capacity and a dedicated circuit. That's where a Fitzroy kitchen can run into trouble: the board may have no spare breaker slot, or the cable to the kitchen may be tired. We find out before you order the appliance. The route for the new cable is the next question. In solid masonry terraces, we usually bring it in overhead or from below and up inside the cabinetry, so nothing is chased into the original walls. Your cabinet maker will want the cutout and clearance details, and we supply them. A licensed gasfitter caps the old line, and we handle the electrical side, testing everything before handover.
What the job involves, warning signs and what's included are on our main induction cooktops page. For everything else we do locally, see electrician Fitzroy.
Good work. Happy locals.

Often the cooking circuit needs replacing, since induction draws far more than an old cooker did. We check the board, the cable to the kitchen and the protection. Then we tell you what's needed, before you commit to the cooktop.
