House rewiring

A Victorian terrace may have been wired in the early twentieth century, extended in the seventies and patched since. That layering is the problem. We test each circuit and inspect the roof space, subfloor and board, noting old rubber or cloth wiring and any joins that should not be there. When a rewire makes sense, we plan it around the house, using the roof space and floor voids to run new cable without opening walls. That matters in narrow terraces, where plaster is shared and fragile. Heritage overlays mean we avoid anything that alters the facade. A full rewire is a big job, so we only recommend it when testing shows the old wiring is unsafe. Where part of the house is fine, we leave it and rewire the rest.
