House rewiring

A rewire is a serious job, so we never recommend one before testing. Victorian and Edwardian houses near the bay may still have old wiring in the roof space and under floors, sometimes patched with newer cable by earlier owners. We check insulation resistance, inspect the roof and subfloor, and look for brittle rubber or cloth sheathing, scorched cable or joins hidden in odd places. If a full rewire makes sense, we plan it in stages around how you live, using the roof space and subfloor to avoid chasing plaster. That is a real benefit in houses with heritage plasterwork and original cornices. Where only part of the house needs attention, we say so and rewire that part. The aim is a house that is safe, tested and documented, with as little patching as possible.
