Switchboard upgrades
in Ivanhoe.

Many of Ivanhoe's period homes have been loved and maintained for generations, yet the switchboard is often an original or a patched version of one. We regularly meet boards with old fuse holders, hand-labelled circuits and extra wiring added in a rush decades ago. This matters more in a house with a well-appointed kitchen, because ovens and cooktops draw heavy current, and the old board has to share it with everything else. Upgrading the board is one of the best things you can do for safety, since modern RCDs cut power quickly if something goes wrong. We install a new board, with circuit breakers for each area of the house, and mark everything clearly. If the old wiring behind it is also tired, we will tell you, since the board and the cabling work together. Many owners choose to do this before a renovation.
