Fitting cooling to a period home without wrecking its looks is a puzzle. In Ivanhoe, we do the wiring side of split system installation and hang the fans.
Ivanhoe 3079
Federation and Edwardian houses often have thick walls and high ceilings that stay cool for a while and then give in to a hot spell. Split systems suit these houses, since they avoid ducts in the ceiling. Your installer places the units. We run its own circuit back to the board, fit an outdoor isolator and connect everything. In period homes, the position of the outdoor unit and the cable path matter for appearance, and we plan them to stay out of sight from the street. Ceiling fans are also a natural fit for high ceilings, but the fan must be mounted on a proper fan-rated support and hung at a height that works. Original boards often have little spare capacity, so we check first and suggest a board upgrade where needed. We work cleanly around ornate cornices.
What the job involves, warning signs and what's included are on our main a/c & ceiling fans page. For everything else we do locally, see electrician Ivanhoe.
Good work. Happy locals.

Yes, with a down-rod to bring the fan to a good height and a fan-rated mounting in the ceiling structure. We check the roof space and avoid damaging plaster details. We also confirm the existing light circuit suits the fan.
