Balwyn North homes
Balwyn North was largely built in the post-war decades, so the classic house is a single-storey cream or red brick home on a big block. Many have been extended, and many more have been knocked down and replaced with large contemporary homes or a pair of townhouses. The original houses often have their first switchboard, or one only partly upgraded, with few circuits and limited safety switch protection. Those boards were never designed for split systems in every bedroom, a pool pump or a car charger. The new builds sit at the other end, with high lighting counts, home networks and EV charging in the garage. Large blocks also mean more requests for outdoor power and garden lighting.
