LED downlights and lighting

Walk through a typical renovated house here and you see two lighting moods. The original rooms at the front have one old pendant or central batten. The extension at the back is bright, with a grid of downlights. The mismatch is obvious at night. We aim to bring them together, often with warm-toned LEDs in both, so the colour matches as you move through the house. Where ceilings are high and decorative, pendants and wall lights may suit better than recessed lights. In the extension, downlight installation is simple, and dimmers help the kitchen and living area shift from cooking to relaxing. For flats in the interwar blocks, ceilings can be lower, so we choose shallow fittings and check what sits above. A few outdoor lights near the back door or along a side path round it off.
