A switchboard upgrade in St Kilda East often comes up when a renovation has squeezed one too many circuits onto an old board. We replace it with a modern board that fits what the house really uses.

Extended Victorian and Edwardian houses have one thing in common: a board that has been added to piece by piece. A few circuits for the original rooms, a few more for the kitchen and bathroom, then a gap-filling job when someone added a heater or a spa. Eventually the board is full and nobody is quite sure what controls what. We open it up, trace the circuits and decide whether it can be tidied or whether it needs replacing. A new board has circuit breakers, safety switches and room to add the next appliance. In flats within interwar blocks nearby, the board may be shared or sit in a common area, so we confirm who owns what first. Labelling is not glamorous, but it is the part owners notice when something trips at night.
