Behind plenty of leadlight doors sits a board from another era, ceramic fuses and a few circuits doing the work of ten. Canterbury homes have usually been renovated in stages, so the board has been asked to carry an extension, a new kitchen and maybe heating it was never meant for. Our fix is straightforward. We take out the old fuse box, fit a new board with circuit breakers and RCD protection, and label every circuit clearly so the next person knows what is what. We also test the wiring that stays and tell you plainly if anything needs attention, such as old cable in the roof. Boards are usually mounted in a garage, hallway or side wall, and we keep the location discreet, which matters on streets under heritage overlays. Once it is done, you can add an EV charger or air conditioning later without starting from scratch.
