Garages in Toorak homes are often generous, which makes a home EV charger installation straightforward in principle. The detail is in the cable run and the board.
Toorak 3142
Many Toorak properties have a double garage or a long driveway, so the question is rarely where to park. Instead it is how far the charger sits from the main switchboard and whether that board can carry the load. In a house with long cable runs, we measure the distance and choose a cable size to suit. Owners with two EVs might want two wall chargers, and we can balance them so they do not overload the supply. A wall charger on an internal garage wall also avoids any visible changes on a heritage street. Off-peak charging overnight is popular, and most chargers can be scheduled for it. In the apartment buildings near Toorak Road and Orrong Road, the process is different, as the basement car park belongs to the building. Body-corporate approval comes first there, and we can help you prepare the request.
What the job involves, warning signs and what's included are on our main ev chargers page. For everything else we do locally, see electrician Toorak.
Good work. Happy locals.

FAQ

Often yes, but it depends on the supply and board. Some chargers can share the load between them so the house does not trip. We check your capacity, then recommend two separate chargers or a load-managed pair. Pools and air conditioning also draw power, so we consider those.
