A kitchen update in a Collingwood terrace or warehouse flat is the natural moment to switch from gas. Induction cooktop installation here needs a dedicated circuit and a board that can supply it.
Collingwood 3066
Small kitchens in cottages and warehouse apartments often end up with an old gas cooktop sitting on a wiring system that was never meant for modern appliances. Induction is a good fit, with no flame, an easy-to-clean surface and quick, controllable heat, but it draws a lot of power. That needs a circuit of its own and cable rated for the load, and the old Collingwood boards frequently have no free space. We check the board and tell you whether it's a straightforward addition or whether the board needs work first. Warehouse conversions sometimes have kitchens on a concrete slab, which affects how the cable reaches the cooktop, so we plan the route with your builder or cabinet maker. A licensed gasfitter caps the old supply; we do everything electrical and test the cooktop before we go. Check your cookware too, as induction needs magnetic pans.
What the job involves, warning signs and what's included are on our main induction cooktops page. For everything else we do locally, see electrician Collingwood.
Good work. Happy locals.

FAQ
Can't see your question? Call Steve on 0450 347 495.
We usually run it overhead through the ceiling space and down inside the cabinetry, or in conduit if it needs to be surface mounted. Concrete rules out burying a cable in the floor after the fact. We'll look at the layout and choose the neatest route.
