Builders in the townhouse developments around Highett tend to give each room a basic centre light and call it done. Open-plan living with a kitchen at one end really wants layers: downlights over the bench, a pendant over the dining table, perhaps a dimmer so the evening mood is softer. Apartment owners near the station are usually after small, tidy upgrades, such as replacing old fittings with a few LEDs, and we make sure the ceiling space can take them. Concrete slabs can limit where cable can go, so we plan around surface-mounted options when required. In the older brick veneers, downlight installation is straightforward, and we can add switches or dimmers at the same time. Colour temperature matters, so we leave a sample for you to compare on your own wall.

Not always the recessed kind. Concrete slabs do not have a cavity for cable and fittings, so we often use surface-mounted LED panels or track lighting. In some cases the cable can run in a lowered section or bulkhead. We inspect the ceiling and tell you what will work.
