House rewiring in Highett mostly applies to original post-war brick veneers that have not been updated. We check what is in the walls and tell you if a rewire is needed.
Highett 3190
Highett still has many original post-war houses, and a fair few have changed hands without anyone looking at the wiring. That can mean old rubber or cloth-sheathed cable in the roof, outdated switches and sockets, and cable that has been patched many times. A full rewire is a bigger decision than a board upgrade, so we start with an inspection and testing, then show you what we find. Homes with sound wiring may only need a new board plus some added circuits. If the cable is deteriorating, a rewire is the safer path, and it is easiest when you are renovating, re-roofing or adding a unit at the back. Townhouses and apartments built later rarely need this. We tell you straight if yours does not.
What the job involves, warning signs and what's included are on our main house rewires page. For everything else we do locally, see electrician Highett.
Good work. Happy locals.

FAQ
Can't see your question? Call Steve on 0450 347 495.
We look at cable in the ceiling and below the floor, test insulation and check the board. If the cable is sound, a fresh board and a handful of new runs may be enough. If the insulation is brittle, we explain why rewiring is the better move.
