Malvern's Edwardian and interwar houses have good bones and often dim rooms. LED downlights, pendants and dimmers can fix that without losing the character of the house.

Think of the typical family home near Wattletree Road: high-ish ceilings, a hallway that never gets enough light, and a kitchen with a single fitting in the centre. We start with a walk-through and work out which rooms suit downlights, and which are better with a pendant or wall light. In the hallway, a line of small LED downlights lifts the whole house. In a study or kids' room, task lighting at the desk matters more than a bright ceiling. Before any downlight installation, we check the roof space for insulation, old cable and framing, which vary a lot in homes of different eras. Dimmers suit living rooms and bedrooms. Outside, garden lighting by the front path and the back entertaining area helps with safety as well as looks. We choose warm colour LEDs for period interiors, and we match the dimmer to the lamp.
