Patched wiring and old fittings produce a particular kind of problem: not a dramatic failure, but a slow pile-up. A switch that crackles. A light that works if you wiggle the shade. A powerpoint that has gone loose in the wall. Fault-finding in these homes starts with testing, then tracing back to the cause. Often it is a loose join in the roof space, a tired fitting or a circuit shared by too many things. Electrical repairs here sometimes reveal that a wider fix, like a new board, makes more sense than a series of small ones, and we say so. For the occasional block of units, we handle common-area lighting and strata or body corporate electrical checks. We leave notes about what we found, to help plan later stages.
