Data cabling in Deepdene gives solid old houses a stable internet connection, and a way to mount a TV on a wall without trailing leads.

Brick and plaster make for sturdy houses and poor Wi-Fi. The router in the hallway rarely reaches the sunroom or back bedroom properly. Data cable goes in from above or below, and comes out at a neat wall plate in the rooms where you need it. If the board and wiring are being upgraded, running data cable at the same time saves opening walls twice. TV wall mounting means checking whether the wall is solid brick, plaster or a later plasterboard addition, since each takes a different fixing. We conceal the cable and fit a powerpoint behind the screen, which stops the cords showing. We also look at the aerial and TV points when reception is poor, a common problem in older homes where the original antenna cable has deteriorated.
