Many families here have a kitchen that was upgraded in stages. The oven may have been replaced twice while the circuit stayed the same, and no one reviewed it. When a new oven goes in, we check that the circuit and breaker suit its rated load, and whether anything else shares the line. Wall ovens are generally hardwired into a junction box in the cabinet, which has to be reachable. Freestanding ovens connect through a cooker outlet or an isolator on the wall, and that wiring has to be sound. Careful homeowners often want the old kitchen's character kept, such as timber benchtops or period features near the oven, so we plan the cable route without damaging them. After connecting, we test the oven and the circuit protection. Oven repairs aren't part of what we do, so a broken unit goes to the manufacturer's service technician.
