Swapping a freestanding oven for a built-in unit looks simple on the showroom floor. In a heritage house it can mean a new cutout in joinery, a cable run through a wall that has not been opened since the thirties, and a circuit that needs upgrading. We look at what your oven needs, measure the load on the existing wiring and decide whether the oven circuit can stay or should be replaced. Wall oven installs get a correctly rated cable and breaker, and we make sure the isolating switch sits within reach but not behind the cooking zone. In interwar flats, where the kitchen is a small room with limited space for the panel, we plan around cupboards and benchtops so the finish stays clean. We install ovens and wire them in. We do not repair them.
