A Victorian or Edwardian cottage that has been renovated at the front or the back often keeps old wiring in the parts nobody opened. Ceilings and walls that were never touched are where we find rubber or cloth insulation, with brittle sheathing and old joins. We test the circuits, check the roof space and underfloor, and show you photos. If a full rewire is needed, the compact lots limit access, so we plan carefully. We work from the roof and underfloor and cut into the walls only where there's no alternative. Period details such as cornices, picture rails and ceiling roses are protected. A rewire is easier to schedule alongside other building work, with walls already open. If only part of the house is old, we can rewire just that part and leave newer wiring alone.
