House rewiring is a big decision, and South Yarra's older homes are where it most often comes up. We explain what is behind your walls before you commit to anything.
South Yarra 3141
Many Victorian terraces and Italianate villas near Fawkner Park were extended in stages, and the wiring tells that story. One room might have rubber or cloth wiring from decades ago, the next a patch from a 1970s renovation. We start with a test and inspection, so you know which parts are fine and which are not. Old insulation breaks down, and that is what makes it risky. A rewire does not have to mean smashed ceilings. We plan routes through the roof space, under the floor and along existing paths, then patch back neatly. In a terrace with ornate cornices, that planning matters even more. We can stage the work so you stay living in the house, and tidy as we go. Afterwards, you get a new switchboard, new circuits and the confidence that the wiring behind the plaster is sound.
What the job involves, warning signs and what's included are on our main house rewires page. For everything else we do locally, see electrician South Yarra.
Good work. Happy locals.

“Called Steve for a job in South Yarra and was extremely pleased with his services, from coming in early for just a quote and then coming back for the job, even though it was last minute, he managed to get it done before time! Excellent communication and always on time! He did more than what I expected and was super efficient along with his colleague! No time wasted and left the place clean and organised before they left!”

FAQ
Can't see your question? Call Steve on 0450 347 495.
We test and inspect it first. If the cable insulation is sound and the circuits are protected, repairs and a board upgrade may be enough. If we find perished rubber or cloth wiring, or patchwork that cannot be traced, a rewire makes more sense. We tell you what we find.
