Some Glen Iris bungalows still carry their original wiring in the ceiling. We assess house rewiring on its merits, and we plan it so it fits around your renovation rather than fighting it.
Glen Iris 3146
A bungalow that has been renovated three times can contain wiring from three different eras. Old rubber or cloth cable in the roof space, newer cable in the kitchen and a few joins in between. It might work, but it isn't a system you'd design today. We start by inspecting and testing, then explain what is original and what is not. If you're about to add a rear extension or a second storey, that's the best time for a rewire. Walls and ceilings are open, access is easy and the electrician isn't an extra disruption. In post-war homes further east, wiring is often sound and a partial update is enough. Not every house needs a rewire, and we'll tell you if yours doesn't. If it does, we protect cornices and ceiling roses wherever we can.
What the job involves, warning signs and what's included are on our main house rewires page. For everything else we do locally, see electrician Glen Iris.
Good work. Happy locals.

FAQ
Can't see your question? Call Steve on 0450 347 495.
Look in the roof space and at the board. Fabric-covered or crumbly rubber cable is a warning sign. If you can't safely get up there, we'll inspect it and test the circuits. We'll show you photos of what we find.
