Switchboard upgrades

Salt air does not do a meter box any favours. Sandringham homes near the water often have corroded boards, rusty screws and fuse holders that have been bridged with whatever was handy. Some of the Edwardian and interwar houses still run their original porcelain fuses, with a modern breaker or two added over the years. We replace the board with a labelled switchboard, fit RCDs on the power and lighting circuits, and test every circuit as we go. If the meter box itself has rotted, we repair or replace the enclosure as part of the job. Owners who are planning a renovation, a split system or an EV charger should do this first, because the old board often cannot take the extra load.
