Here is a question we ask at the start of every oven job: what is the old one plugged into? In post-war houses the answer is sometimes an oven that has been connected through a switch, a light-duty cable or a shared circuit. A modern oven may not suit that. We check the cable, the breaker and the connection point before the new unit arrives. Wall ovens need a neat connection in the cabinetry, usually through a connection box in the adjoining cupboard. In a townhouse the kitchen is typically newer, and the work is quick. Occasionally the circuit was sized for a smaller oven, so we check it. We only install, so a unit that has stopped working is one for its maker. Once the oven is on, we test it and tell you which breaker controls it.
