The typical original home here is a 1950s or 60s house whose board was set up for a quiet household. Some still have fuses. Many have a small panel with a handful of circuits shared between lighting, powerpoints and the stove. That works until a family adds a split system, an induction cooktop and a car charger, all of which want their own circuits. So before we fit any of those, we look at the board. If it is full or ageing, we replace it with circuit breakers and safety switches, and leave spare ways for the next addition. In a unit from the 1960s or 70s along the main roads, the board may be shared or tucked in a common area, which changes who we need to speak to. We label everything and show you what each circuit does.
