Summer is when people in the 1950s and 60s houses here find out how little spare capacity their board has. The split system they bought might want its own circuit, and the original board may have nowhere to put it. We check this before the installer comes, so there are no stalled jobs. The wiring involves a dedicated circuit, an isolator by the outdoor unit and the connection at the indoor head, while the refrigerant side stays with the A/C installer. For townhouses, a split system is usually easier, since the wiring is newer and the board often has spare ways. Placement still matters. Outdoor units near neighbours, courtyards or a shared wall are worth planning around. A ceiling fan can reduce how often the system runs, so we often wire one in at the same visit.
