Some Collingwood cottages have wiring so old that no one can say where a circuit ends. Cloth or rubber cable breaks down with age, and decades of additions can leave joins in places nobody remembers. A rewire replaces all of it with modern cable, new circuits and a new board. It sounds disruptive, but cottages are small, and the roof space and subfloor give good access. We try to run cable along existing paths and cut only small access holes. Heritage overlays cover much of the suburb, so we keep visible external work discreet and leave ceiling roses and cornices alone. Terrace houses that share walls need extra care so the work doesn't touch the neighbour's side. Before deciding on a full rewire, we inspect and test what's there, and if a partial upgrade will do, we'll say so.
