We often see two houses in one: a freshly built kitchen and family room at the back, and the original villa or Edwardian front with its old wiring still in place. The old part is where problems hide. Rubber or cloth cable that's been there since the house was built may be brittle, and the new extension's heavier loads have been connected to it. A rewire replaces the old circuits, adds capacity and puts everything on a new board. Broad streets and generous lots mean these homes usually have good roof spaces and floor voids, so cable can run above and below instead of through the walls. We take care of the front rooms' cornices and ceiling details, and keep any visible external work discreet under heritage overlays.
