Switchboard upgrades

Look at a typical Ripponlea board and you may see newer circuit breakers next to a couple of old ceramic fuses, with cables of different ages going in. That mix tells us the house has been altered in stages. Before swapping anything, we test each circuit, because the board is only as safe as what it feeds. Then we fit a new board with safety switches and labelled circuits. In the 1930s flat blocks near the station, the board is often tucked in a stairwell cupboard, and we sort access with the owners corporation. For houses that are planning a new kitchen, an upgraded board is the foundation, and we can add circuits for an oven or induction cooktop at the same time. Heritage overlays make us careful with meter boxes facing the street, so we keep external changes minimal.
