In a red-brick walk-up, your flat's board might be a small panel with a couple of old fuses, fed from a shared meter room downstairs. It has limits. Adding a heater, a dishwasher or air conditioning pushes it hard, and workarounds rarely last. A Victorian cottage tells a different story. The board is often original, with rewireable fuses or a basic breaker that offers no real shock protection. Either way, a switchboard upgrade brings in circuit breakers and safety switches, then a clear circuit list so you know which breaker does what. In units we work within the building's setup, and we check what the supply to your flat can handle before we promise anything. For cottages we look at the whole supply. A board is a good time to check earthing too, because older houses can have it patchy. We test everything before we leave.
