The challenge here is capacity. A small Edwardian cottage board that already runs lights, a cooktop and a hot water service may not have room for a split system. We check the board, then add a dedicated circuit, an isolator by the outdoor unit and a tidy connection. Your air conditioning installer handles the unit and refrigerant. In the brick flats the outdoor unit may sit on a balcony or common wall, which needs owners corporation approval, so sort that early. We run cable through the roof or along a neat surface route where solid walls block the way. Ceiling fan installation is a good alternative or add-on in rentals, since it needs less approval and adds airflow to a stuffy bedroom. We fit the wall controller and balance the fan so it runs quietly.
