The 1960s and 70s brick walk-ups around Hotham Street and Inkerman Street were built when a lounge room needed one outlet and a lamp. Today one wall holds a TV, a console, a router and a phone charger. Solid brick means we cannot just open the wall, so we plan each run, using surface-mounted conduit that is neat and well finished or chasing carefully where the owner agrees. Many residents rent, so the work often comes through a landlord or agent, and we give them a note of every point added. In the older Edwardian cottages the job is different, with timber floors that make running cable easy. An extra powerpoint near the kitchen bench or beside the bed can change how a small flat works. We aim for neat results that stay in place.

Yes, once you have the landlord's or owners corporation's approval. We confirm what is allowed, choose a neat route through solid brick, and give the landlord a note of what we fitted. If surface conduit is the only option, we make it as tidy as possible.
