Compact flat kitchens are where induction makes the most sense. A hotplate that heats the pan and not the room is a real gain in a one-bedroom unit in summer. The concern is the wiring behind it. Some older St Kilda flats are on shared meter panels or have thin cable to the kitchen, and a strong cooktop pulls a lot of power. We check the cable and the flat's board and work out whether a dedicated circuit is possible. Removing gas can involve the building too, because gas supply to the unit may be controlled by the owners corporation, so check with your strata manager and use a licensed gasfitter for the gas side. We do the electrical connection and test it. Remember to check your pans, since induction needs magnetic cookware.
