Windsor is a small suburb with a lot of variety. The streets either side of Chapel Street and High Street hold Victorian workers' cottages and terraces, many of them single-fronted and close to the footpath. Scattered through are red-brick walk-up flats from the post-war decades and a growing number of apartment buildings near Windsor station and Dandenong Road. In the cottages, we often find original wiring that has been patched rather than replaced, sometimes with old rubber or cloth-insulated cable still live in the ceiling. The walk-ups tend to have small shared meter panels and limited capacity for each unit. For the apartments, it is mostly lighting and appliance work, with body-corporate rules to follow for anything on common property.
